In an accident, many people make the mistake of just getting their car repaired, but don't bother to get compensated for the diminished value. Many times you are dealing with the other parties insurance company who has no loyalty towards you. If there is an irreconcilable difference of opinion as far as damages, toll loss or valuation, you can always hire an independent appraiser for $100 - $300.

Independent Appraisers will value your car, look for problems with the insurance companies appraisal, and also advise you if the carrier is giving you a fair valuation. For instance, if the carrier valued your car based on having the V6 engine and steel tire rims, but your car actually had a v8 and aluminum mag rims, you should be given substantially more.
