SUVs Insurance Rates

If the past, SUVs have been known as high claim high theft targets (IE Cadillac Escalade). They also used a lot of gas, and did a lot of vehicle and property damage. Because of the high center of gravity, Sport Utility Vehicles had a tendency to flip and did not handle very well. But with advancements and technology, SUVs are now much safer today.

According to the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), SUV owners are the least likely to die in crashes because of its electronic stability control, lowers the chance of a rolling over accident. Now because they are larger and heavier, SUVs offer more protection in a crash. And injury claims are the most expensive part of an auto claim.

The SUV had more driver death rates than only the minivan class. Car Insurers base what they charge you and me on insurance losses and so they may use IIHS data along with their own internal accounting to determine likely loss rates.

If you have an SUV, get a quote at the top from multiple carriers, shop around and get the best deal for you. It's important to get quotes from both regional and national carriers.
