Farmers Auto Insurance
Founded in 1928, today, Farmers Insurance Group of Companies is owned by the Zurich Financial Services. They offer coverage in 41 states in the Union and Los Angeles, California. They have over 15 million policyholders. Almost half of Farmers Insurance business is auto, and the rest homeowners, commercial and workers' compensation coverage. They are rated A by Standard & Poor's (01/01/2004).
Strengths may include many local agents to choose from and ability to get multi policy discounts for consolidating your coverage. The company provides management and administrative services to the members of the Farmers Insurance Exchange, Truck Insurance Exchange, and Fire Insurance Exchange.
Weaknesses may include having customer service in the hands of the individual agent, claims adjusters may be hard to contact, premiums may fluctuate, unreliable billing and expensive premiums for younger male drivers.
