California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program (CLCA)
First determine if you qualify:- You must be a resident of California
- Your car cannot be worth over $20,000
- You are only allowed to insure up to 2 cars per person, per household.
- Your gross annual income in your household cannot exceed 250% of the federal poverty level listed below:

Additional requirements for the California low cost auto insurance program:
- You must be at least 19-years old and been licensed for at least three years without any suspensions on your driving record.
- You cannot have any felonies or misdemeanors on your driving record including failure to appear on your driving record
- You cannot have had an fault accident in which someone was injured or killed in the last three years.
- You cannot have than one moving violation or at-fault accident (with property damage) in the past three years.
- You cannot be a college student still being claimed as a dependent by your family on their taxes.
- All cars in the household have to be insured with the CA Low Cost Auto Insurance Program.
- Your vehicle cannot be used for business or commercial purposes or considered a 1-ton.
